Living Nativity Preparation

Posted by bbullis on October 16, 2014

Dear CrossRoads Family,

It's hard to believe, but it's just EIGHT WEEKS until the Living Nativity!!!!  Those of you who were part of last year's Nativity realize what a tremendous opportunity this is to share the good news of Jesus with our community.  In fact, as we've been studying "Just Walk Across The Room,"  I truly believe that this is one of our most important "walks" to reach out and minister to those around us.

In that light, during the service this Sunday, we'll be laying out our plans for the Nativity and sharing the various roles and responsibilities that need to be filled.  It'll all be part of my message, "Let's Go…On Display," which will focus on the story of the woman at the well in John chapter 4, who ended up bringing many folks from the town of Sychar to meet Jesus…just as we'll be doing with the Nativity!  Please make every effort to come this Sunday!

Also, don't forget we have another Movie Night on the property TOMORROW NIGHT (Friday), beginning at 7 p.m.  Our previous movie night this past summer was a great success, so we've decided to do it again, and this time we're focusing on the kids and showing the movie "Agent Cody Banks." We'll be serving free popcorn, and having a great time. Please bring a chair, a blanket, and "walk across the room" and invite a friend!

That's it for now.  Thanks for all you're doing to serve our Lord Jesus at CrossRoads.  I'll see you tomorrow night…and Sunday morning!

Blessings,

Bob

Celebrating LIFE

Posted by bbullis on October 3, 2014

As many of you know, Robin Sigler received a new (transplanted) liver yesterday.  As her daughter wrote on Facebook, "My mom just received the greatest gift today - LIFE!"  Praise God for the doctors, nurses, technology, and the donor, to bring about this miracle.  Are you an organ donor?  If so, then one day you may be a part of the miracle of new life for another person.

As Christ-followers, we all have been given an even greater gift - SPIRITUAL new LIFE!   Jesus has given us a new heart and made us a "new creation" (2 Corinthians 5:17), meaning we have abundant LIFE…for eternity!  Hopefully you've signed up to be a "spiritual" donor as well... to share the love and good news of Jesus Christ so that another person can receive the miracle of ETERNAL life in Jesus Christ.

To quote from the book that we've been studying, "Just Walk Across the Room,"  "The single greatest gift Christ-followers can give to the people around them is an introduction to the God who created them, who loves them, and who has a purpose for their life."

Have you done that this week?  Will you invite someone to church so that they can be introduced to the God who created them?  It's going to be a great Sunday…we're celebrating CrossRoads' anniversary month (16 years!), and we'll also be celebrating the Lord's Supper.

Celebrating LIFE,

Bob

Opportunities for Reaching Out

Posted by bbullis on September 19, 2014

Dear CrossRoads Family,

Thanks to all of you who came out last Sunday for our annual CrossRoads Connecting picnic and baptism service!  It was a beautiful day to celebrate all that God is doing in the life of our church.

Although we won't be having another picnic this week, we're still focusing our attention on "connecting people to Jesus Christ and His family", which is a key part of our purpose statement and the main point of our current study of the book "Just Walk Across the Room" by Bill Hybels.  Hopefully you've already had the chance to reach out to someone this week….and if not, pray that God gives you the opportunity!

Speaking of opportunities, I'd like you to know about three things that are coming up:

1.  FUSION "IMPACT":  Beginning this Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. (and continuing every other Sunday), we're inviting all youth (grades 6-12) to come and experience the "Impact" that comes from being a Christ-follower.  We'll be meeting at Mt. Tabor, and Brandon Donaldson (bdonald2(at)eastern.edu) will be leading a time of fellowship, fun, and Bible Study.  And yes, there will be pizza…
2.  MEN'S MINISTRY:  Plans are taking shape for a new year of activities!  Paul Fontenot (pfontenot(at)yahoo.com) is now heading up the ministry, as John Irvin is in the process of moving.  Thank you, John for doing a great job with this ministry!  One thing that will be a priority for our men (and our whole church) over the next several weeks will be our Living Nativity coming up in December.  We need men to help build the set (town of Bethlehem, etc.), and we'll be meeting on Saturday mornings to do the construction.  If you can help, please contact John Donaldson (jkabcd(at)comcast.net) or Kurt Koch (KurtandKaren(at)verizon.net).
3.  "I Still Do" MARRIAGE CONFERENCE:  This is a powerful and practical one day marriage event sponsored by Family Life ministries.  It's being held at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. on Saturday, October 4th.  Greg and Sabrina Michalov (gmichalov(at)hotmail.com) are coordinating plans for anyone who would like to go, and there is a "Buy One, Get One Free" ticket offer that expires on September 22nd.  If you're interested, contact Greg and/or go to istilldo.com.

Well, that's it for now.  Have a blessed Friday…and I'm looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Reaching Out,

Bob

Annual Church Picnic and Baptism Service

Posted by bbullis on September 13, 2014

Dear CrossRoads Family,

What a great Sunday we have ahead of us! During the morning worship service at 10:30 we'll be continuing our study entitled "Let's Go…Pointing People to Faith," and also celebrating the Lord's Supper together!

Then, on Sunday afternoon, from 4-7 p.m. (don't worry, the Ravens have already played), we'll be having our ANNUAL CHURCH PICNIC AND BAPTISM SERVICE on the new property! We call this event "CrossRoads Connecting" because it's a great way to get to know folks and share in fun and fellowship.

We'll start at 4 p.m. with the baptism, then eat together, then share in some games, and finally we'll take a prayer walk around the new driveway and pray for those folks who will be coming onto our property one day….particularly for this season's Living Nativity!

Here are some things you need to know:
1. Please bring a dish according to the first letter of your last name: A-D, Side Dish; E-N, Dessert; O-Z, Main Dish
2. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket
3. Please bring a favorite yard game if you have one: like corn hole or ladder toss.
4. And don't forget, PLEASE BRING A FRIEND!

We'll have a Moon Bounce for the kids, and the Praise Team will be playing some songs. What a day it's going to be!!

Of course the highlight to the whole event is the baptism service, where we celebrate with folks who have decided to trust Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and now want to show the world their changed lives and love for Him by being baptized!

If you feel God is calling you to be baptized, there will be a meeting immediately following the morning worship service to go over all of the details (or, you can email me if you'd prefer).

Well, that's it for now! See you Sunday!

Blessings,

Bob
