Christmastime is Here!

Posted by bbullis on November 22, 2014

Dear CrossRoads Family,

Please don't forget that our Operation Christmas Child boxes are due on Sunday, November 23rd.  In case you forget to bring them to church, you can drop them off at Calvary Baptist Church in Bel Air on Monday.

Progress is being made on the Living Nativity, which is still scheduled for December 13th and 14th, 6-9 p.m.  Don't forget to get some business cards and fliers and invite someone!  Contact Holly Voelker if you haven't yet signed up for an assignment.   Set up day is December 6th, from 8 a.m. until we're finished, and we still need folks to sign up for time blocks to "keep watch" over our props during the week before the Nativity.  We have 4 hour time slots available.

Continue to pray for good weather and a good crowd to hear the good news of Jesus Christ!

Blessings,

Bob

Turn our Clocks Back Sunday Nov. 2nd

Posted by bbullis on November 1, 2014

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to send you a quick reminder about tomorrow, Sunday, November 2nd.

First:  Don't forget to TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR tonight before you go to bed.

Second:  We'll be celebrating the Lord's Supper in the worship service, which is always an inspirational time.

Third:  The youth are having a bonfire / cookout from 5-8 p.m. at the Flot's house.  Contact Brandon (bdonald2(at)eastern.edu) for more info.

I hope you've already "walked across the room" and invited someone to worship with us, and if not, there's still time to give someone a call!  I've been so blessed by the number of folks who are stretching "beyond their comfort zones" and telling their story and sharing the love of Jesus.

Finally, don't forget it's not too late to sign up to be a part of our Living Nativity on Dec. 13th and 14th.  Contact Holly Voelker (jhmpdv(at)comcast.net).

That's it for now.  See you tomorrow!

Bob

Living Nativity Preparation

Posted by bbullis on October 16, 2014

Dear CrossRoads Family,

It's hard to believe, but it's just EIGHT WEEKS until the Living Nativity!!!!  Those of you who were part of last year's Nativity realize what a tremendous opportunity this is to share the good news of Jesus with our community.  In fact, as we've been studying "Just Walk Across The Room,"  I truly believe that this is one of our most important "walks" to reach out and minister to those around us.

In that light, during the service this Sunday, we'll be laying out our plans for the Nativity and sharing the various roles and responsibilities that need to be filled.  It'll all be part of my message, "Let's Go…On Display," which will focus on the story of the woman at the well in John chapter 4, who ended up bringing many folks from the town of Sychar to meet Jesus…just as we'll be doing with the Nativity!  Please make every effort to come this Sunday!

Also, don't forget we have another Movie Night on the property TOMORROW NIGHT (Friday), beginning at 7 p.m.  Our previous movie night this past summer was a great success, so we've decided to do it again, and this time we're focusing on the kids and showing the movie "Agent Cody Banks." We'll be serving free popcorn, and having a great time. Please bring a chair, a blanket, and "walk across the room" and invite a friend!

That's it for now.  Thanks for all you're doing to serve our Lord Jesus at CrossRoads.  I'll see you tomorrow night…and Sunday morning!

Blessings,

Bob

Celebrating LIFE

Posted by bbullis on October 3, 2014

As many of you know, Robin Sigler received a new (transplanted) liver yesterday.  As her daughter wrote on Facebook, "My mom just received the greatest gift today - LIFE!"  Praise God for the doctors, nurses, technology, and the donor, to bring about this miracle.  Are you an organ donor?  If so, then one day you may be a part of the miracle of new life for another person.

As Christ-followers, we all have been given an even greater gift - SPIRITUAL new LIFE!   Jesus has given us a new heart and made us a "new creation" (2 Corinthians 5:17), meaning we have abundant LIFE…for eternity!  Hopefully you've signed up to be a "spiritual" donor as well... to share the love and good news of Jesus Christ so that another person can receive the miracle of ETERNAL life in Jesus Christ.

To quote from the book that we've been studying, "Just Walk Across the Room,"  "The single greatest gift Christ-followers can give to the people around them is an introduction to the God who created them, who loves them, and who has a purpose for their life."

Have you done that this week?  Will you invite someone to church so that they can be introduced to the God who created them?  It's going to be a great Sunday…we're celebrating CrossRoads' anniversary month (16 years!), and we'll also be celebrating the Lord's Supper.

Celebrating LIFE,

Bob

Opportunities for Reaching Out

Posted by bbullis on September 19, 2014

Dear CrossRoads Family,

Thanks to all of you who came out last Sunday for our annual CrossRoads Connecting picnic and baptism service!  It was a beautiful day to celebrate all that God is doing in the life of our church.

Although we won't be having another picnic this week, we're still focusing our attention on "connecting people to Jesus Christ and His family", which is a key part of our purpose statement and the main point of our current study of the book "Just Walk Across the Room" by Bill Hybels.  Hopefully you've already had the chance to reach out to someone this week….and if not, pray that God gives you the opportunity!

Speaking of opportunities, I'd like you to know about three things that are coming up:

1.  FUSION "IMPACT":  Beginning this Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. (and continuing every other Sunday), we're inviting all youth (grades 6-12) to come and experience the "Impact" that comes from being a Christ-follower.  We'll be meeting at Mt. Tabor, and Brandon Donaldson (bdonald2(at)eastern.edu) will be leading a time of fellowship, fun, and Bible Study.  And yes, there will be pizza…
2.  MEN'S MINISTRY:  Plans are taking shape for a new year of activities!  Paul Fontenot (pfontenot(at)yahoo.com) is now heading up the ministry, as John Irvin is in the process of moving.  Thank you, John for doing a great job with this ministry!  One thing that will be a priority for our men (and our whole church) over the next several weeks will be our Living Nativity coming up in December.  We need men to help build the set (town of Bethlehem, etc.), and we'll be meeting on Saturday mornings to do the construction.  If you can help, please contact John Donaldson (jkabcd(at)comcast.net) or Kurt Koch (KurtandKaren(at)verizon.net).
3.  "I Still Do" MARRIAGE CONFERENCE:  This is a powerful and practical one day marriage event sponsored by Family Life ministries.  It's being held at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. on Saturday, October 4th.  Greg and Sabrina Michalov (gmichalov(at)hotmail.com) are coordinating plans for anyone who would like to go, and there is a "Buy One, Get One Free" ticket offer that expires on September 22nd.  If you're interested, contact Greg and/or go to istilldo.com.

Well, that's it for now.  Have a blessed Friday…and I'm looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Reaching Out,

Bob
