In beginning a study of Revelation 17 (and 18), we must remember that Revelation 16 described the seventh bowl judgment (verses 17-21), the details of which are continued in Revelation 19. So these two chapters are a sort of “bowl interlude,” a parenthetical pause in the movement of the book to present information to help us better understand the final events of the Great Tribulation.
