Matthew 4: 12-17
A Prophecy of the King

Matthew chapter 4: 12-17 continues after Jesus was tempted in the wilderness.  After hearing that John had been put in prison (and there’s a time gap between verses 12 and 13) Jesus came into the region of Zebulun and Naphtali—places Isaiah had specifically identified centuries earlier—and suddenly the prophecy began to unfold:

“The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light.”  And what did Jesus do?  He called them out of it.  Jesus' first recorded message in Matthew is:  “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”  And that's what we're going to see this morning: the King came exactly where God said He would come, He brought the light that God promised, and He proclaimed the message God required.
