As we continue our study of those who encountered Jesus after His resurrection, today we look at Cleopas, and his wife, Mary, as they journeyed to Emmaus. Simply referred to as “two of them” (followers of Jesus) in Mark 16:12 and Luke 24:13, I believe they were husband and wife, since they talked about their “heart burning within them” when Jesus opened the Scriptures to them (Luke 24:32). The singular ”heart” indicates a oneness shared only by a married couple. And so we see their reception of Jesus’ RECOGNIZABLE TEACHING.
