Psalm 23: 1–3
Formula for Parenting

One of the “I Am” statements Jesus shares about Himself is that of the Good Shepherd, who gives His life for His sheep (John 10:11).  As we look at the characteristics of a good shepherd it becomes clear why Jesus gave this title for Himself - because people are so apt to act like sheep!  Scriptures like Isaiah 53:6 remind us that people and sheep are very much alike, especially in the negative sense.  Sheep are dependent, not very intelligent, prone to wander and unable to find their way to provide for their needs.   It is clear, because of our helplessness and our tendency to wander and get lost we are in need of a Good Shepherd.  And in a similar way, our children are in need of someone to shepherd them.  How do we do that? By studying Psalm 23.
