One of the ”I Am” statements Jesus shares about Himself is that of the Good Shepherd, who gives His life for His sheep (John 10:11). As we look at the characteristics of a good shepherd (caring, committed and competent) and the characteristics of sheep (dependent, wandering, and stubborn), it becomes clear we are in need of this Good Shepherd as we parent our children! Our children are in need of someone to shepherd them. In one of the most endearing Psalms of the Bible, Psalm 23, we discover how best to shepherd our children as God shepherds us.
